Once again, BUSHWACKER stole the show! He up'd his score from last week's 47 to 48 in Kansas City! Two points from perfection.....Really? What else do the judges want to see? I say this week, let's go for 50! |
Winter storm Q reeked havoc in Kansas City two days before the PBR event there. Thankfully, but not without travel horror stories, did both cowboys and bulls arrive safely and the show went on as scheduled! Saturday night was an ABBI Classic competition, showcasing 3 and 4 year old bulls. These bulls always provide good entertainment as they are fussier in the chutes, and like to run free in the arena. They're still "children" and play is a good thing! There were a few exceptional bulls in this round, one being MESCALITO, who just launched the reigning World Champion Silvano Alves....outstanding buck-off! HONEY HUSH was ridden, but bucked hard and had a great out. OUTSIDE THE BOX absolutely slammed Zach Brown to the ground. But the big winner of the Classic round was MAXIMUS, who is co-owned by bull rider LJ Jenkins. MAXIMUS had a great out, bucking off Marchi in just 3.75 seconds and awarded 44.25 points.
Kansas City hosted a 15/15 Bucking Battle Saturday night, and the bulls once again won the night 14-1! The 2012 Classic Champion, SHEPHERD HILLS TESTED, started off the 15/15 by a stunning buck-off of Jory Markiss. Tested was awarded 46 points.

NEW HOLLAND POWERSTAR (Quiet Riot), who is now 15-0, made quick work of Aaron Roy, bucking him off in just 3.63 seconds, and receiving a 45 point score. Overall, Powerstar has 21 straight buck-offs. |

Teague Bucking Bull's RFD-HD sent Jordan Hupp flying in 4.32 seconds. The one horned wonder received 44 points. |

YAY! We finally got to see K-C Bucking Bull's WHO DAT buck. Who Dat did not have a chance to buck in prior events because not enough riders qualified for the championship round. For the 3rd time, Who Dat sent now World #1 Shane Proctor flying. |

K-C's KING LOPEZ provided the only ride of the 15/15. King Lopez looked awesome, and as Ty Murray said in his weekly podcast, The Ty Murray Report, "This was the best ride I've seen all year. The bull couldn't have bucked any harder. The bull couldn't have had a better day." King Lopez and Luke Snyder teamed up for the winning ride and 91.5 points. |

Exciting news from K-C Bucking Bulls this week was the addition of MISSISSIPPI HIPPY. This giant weighs a stunning 2285 pounds and is agile and a great bucker for his size. He's had 12 outs with only 1 ride on the BFTS. Hippy easily bucked off Ty Pozzobon in 3.12 seconds and received 45 .75 points. PHOTO PROVIDED BY K-C BUCKING BULLS. |
SMACKDOWN was also impressive with a 5.25 second buck-off of Alves, 45.25 points. ROCK & ROLL faded a bit across the front of the bucking chutes, and didn't have his usual trip, but was successful in bucking off Douglas Duncan. His score of 41.5 points was a bit low, in my opinion.
On Sunday, we again were treated to a "Pure PBR" telecast. Sunday's pen of great bulls only allowed 8 rides.

K-C Bucking Bull's HAPPY FEET is a bull who has impressed me every time he's bucked. Happy Feet has a lot of forward movement and got Emilio Resende out of position and off in 3.49 seconds. PHOTO PROVIDED BY K-C BUCKING BULLS. |
Other bulls who had notable outings were MR. SMOOTH 42.25 pts, VIP 43.5 pts, SASQUATCH 42.75 pts who is only ridden once out of 21 times, and SPOTTED VELVET who is mentioned because he delighted the crowd with his arena antics and gave fits to safety man, Mike White.
Broadcaster Craig Hummer summed it up by saying, "Every weekend the Bulls should be the highlight on the BFTS". Have I not been saying "It's all about the bulls" for some time now???
The Championship Round on Sunday provided 4 rides, won by Shane Proctor on PALEFACE, for 89.75 points. The bulls in the Championship Round scored between 43-44 points, with the exception of the stand-out TEFLON TOM (7-0), from Austin Riley/Teague Bucking Bulls, who was scored a high 45.25 points. Teflon Tom went vertical after bucking off Emilio Resende. Outstanding bull!

Currey Creek Bucking Bulls & Cattle Co. BLONDE BOMBER produced one of the rides in the Championship Round. This big, golden bull scored 43 points and gave Marco Eguchi an 87.50 point ride to solidify his win in Kansas City. |

Snowstorm Q couldn't stop the bovines from bucking or record crowds from coming to KC for the PBR! Spectacular BUSHWACKER was the absolute highlight of the event for the second straight week. Let's face it bull riding fans, in reality, it's the bull's world...and we're just living in it! ;)
